VOLVO 900 SERIES Recalls

The Volvo 900 Series has 5 recalls spanning the 1990-1996 model years, with the most serious being a throttle plate screw issue on 1996 models where the plate can come loose, contact the throttle housing, and prevent the engine from returning to idle. A separate but equally urgent concern affects 1990 models specifically: if the car has been exposed to flooding or soaked carpeting, the airbag can deploy unexpectedly when starting the engine. On the safety restraint side, 1995 models have a driver's side airbag that may not deploy correctly in a crash, reducing protection at the moment it's most needed. The 1992 model year carries a seatbelt webbing guide on the B-pillar that can break under the high loads of a severe crash, weakening the belt's ability to restrain an occupant. The 1995 Volvo 960 also has a compliance issue where the tire information label lists incorrect size and pressure data.
