3 recalls across 2 model years
The Volvo WIA has 3 recalls covering the 1995 and 1996 model years, with the most serious being a king pin defect on 1995 models where the pin can crack during axle assembly, work loose over time, and cause erratic or complete loss of steering control.
The 1996 model year has a separate suspension issue involving Eaton drive axles equipped with Axilok spindle nuts, where a locking tab that keeps the wheel bearing nut from loosening can fail to do its job, allowing the bearing nut to back off during operation and potentially leading to wheel bearing failure or wheel separation. There is also a compliance issue on 1996 models where cab entry and exit warning labels were left off during assembly, leaving occupants without the posted climbing sequence guidance and raising the risk of a slip or fall when getting in or out of the cab.
