3 recalls across 2 model years
The Volvo WIA has 3 recalls covering 1995 and 1996 model years, with the most serious being a king pin defect on 1995 models where the pin can break and work loose from the front steer axle, causing erratic steering and loss of steering control. The 1996 model year has two separate issues. On vehicles equipped with Eaton drive axles and Axilok spindle nuts, a locking tab in the wheel bearing nut mechanism can fail to hold, allowing the bearing nut to loosen while driving and potentially leading to wheel separation. Also on 1996 models, warning labels describing the correct three-point sequence for climbing into or out of the cab were omitted at assembly, which raises the risk of a slip or fall during entry and exit.
