VOLVO WIM Recalls

The Volvo WIM has 1 recall affecting the 1988 model year, where a crack can develop in the fifth wheel mounting plate at the weld points where the fifth wheel legs meet the base plate, eventually allowing a trailer to separate from the truck while underway. When the mounting plate fails, the trailer can detach without warning, creating a serious hazard for the towing vehicle and surrounding traffic. The defect applies to 1988 models equipped with Fontaine lightweight fixed-position fifth wheels.
