3 recalls across 2 model years
The Volvo WXLL has 3 recalls spanning the 1997-2001 production run, with the most serious being a throttle control defect on 2001 models equipped with Cummins Westport B Gas Plus or C Gas Plus engines where the engine control module fails to detect a throttle actuator failure, causing the engine to accelerate without driver input and making the vehicle impossible to slow through the throttle.
The other 2001 recall involves electronic throttle pedal assemblies where a weld connecting the clevis to the pedal plate can break, causing the accelerator pedal to lose its mechanical connection. On 1997 models, a steer axle wheel bearing jam nut lock washer may not have been properly bent into place during assembly, allowing the nut to back off the spindle and the front wheel and brake drum to detach from the vehicle while driving.
