4 recalls across 2 model years
The Yamaha Super Ténéré (XTZ1200) has 4 recalls across the 2012 and 2014 model years, with the most serious being a wiring corrosion defect on 2012 models where the engine can fail to return to idle when the throttle is released, making the motorcycle difficult to control.
A separate 2012 recall covers a fuel pump O-ring that may have been installed incorrectly at the factory, allowing fuel to leak near potential ignition sources and creating a fire risk. There is also a 2012 headlamp connector that can overheat and melt, causing the headlight to dim or fail and reducing visibility at night or in low-light conditions. On 2014 models equipped with the removable hard saddlebags, the bags block the motorcycle's built-in side reflectors when mounted, and the saddlebags themselves lack their own reflectors, making the motorcycle harder for other road users to see from the side.
