4 recalls across 2 model years
The Yamaha Super Ténéré (XTZ1200) has 4 recalls covering the 2012 and 2014 model years, with the most serious being a wiring corrosion issue on 2012 models where the ECU receives incorrect signals and the engine can fail to return to idle when the throttle is released, making the motorcycle difficult to control.
The 2012 model year also has a fuel pump O-ring that may have been installed incorrectly at the factory, allowing fuel to leak near potential ignition sources and creating a fire risk. There is also a headlamp connector on 2012 models that can overheat and melt, degrading or disabling the headlight and reducing visibility at night or in low-light conditions. On 2014 models equipped with the removable hard saddlebags, the bags themselves lack side reflectors and block the motorcycle's built-in side reflectors when mounted, making the motorcycle harder for other road users to see from the side.
