3 recalls across 3 model years
The Yamaha Virago 250 has 3 recalls spanning 1988 to 2019, with the most serious affecting 2019 models where an engine side cover machined out of spec can starve the engine of lubrication, causing it to stall or seize and leaving the rider without power in traffic. The 2005 model year has a separate brake-related recall where the friction material on the rear brake shoes can detach due to improper bonding during manufacturing, reducing or eliminating rear braking and raising the risk of a crash. Going back to the earliest production, 1988 models have a seat mounting issue where hardware holding the seat to the rear fender can loosen under a passenger's shifting weight, eventually fall off, and drop the seat from the bike mid-ride, causing the passenger to lose balance and fall.
