7 recalls across 6 model years
The Zero DS has 7 recalls spanning 2015 through 2025, with the most serious being a twisted front brake hose on 2024–2025 models that can leak brake fluid and reduce braking ability, raising the risk of a crash.
The 2024 model year also has a wiring issue where improperly routed key switch signal wires can break and cut drive power without warning. On 2021 models, the DC-DC converter can shut off when electrical demand is high, taking the anti-lock brakes, instruments, and lights offline simultaneously. The same underlying problem appears on 2015 models, where an underpowered DC-DC converter can cause the anti-lock brakes and all lights to stop working during a braking event.
Going back to 2017, certain DS models may have an anti-lock brake control unit programmed with incorrect vehicle information, which can cause the anti-lock brakes to behave improperly during hard stops. The 2018 model year has a compliance recall for an emissions label that states the wrong model year, which could cause confusion if a future recall notice is issued for those vehicles.
