Defect
On certain vehicles, if the vehicle is driven with only the secondary latch engaged, the secondary hood latch may fail to hold the hood closed. As a result, the hood could open suddenly and compromise the driver’s ability to see the road and its users, as well as cause damage to the windshield. These issues could result in a crash causing injury and/or property damage.

Remedy
Dealers will inspect, clean, lubricate, and modify the bend angle on the secondary hood latch. If significant corrosion is identified during inspection, the latch assembly will be replaced.
