Defect
On certain vehicles, a software problem could cause the controls for the ventilation control system (HVAC) not to work. As a result, you may not be able to defog or defrost the windshield or windows. Note: This recall only affects vehicles equipped with a 12" display screen, SYNC 4 and electronic automatic temperature controls.
Safety Risk
A windshield that cannot be defogged or defrosted can reduce visibility and increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Ford will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the remote climate control module software.
