Defect
Certain E 53 and E 63 S models may have been built without a limiter for the adjustment of the front passenger seat. As a result, the seat could be positioned too far forward.
Safety Risk
A seat that is positioned too far forward could create an increased risk of injury to the front passenger in a crash where the airbag deploys.
Remedy
Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to inspect the adjustment range of the front passenger seat. The dealer will install an adjustment range limiter if it is missing.
