ACURA LEGEND Recalls

The Acura Legend has 6 recalls covering 1991 and 1992 model years, with the most serious being a transmission shift cable bracket defect on 1991 models where a minor front-end collision can cause the engine to rock on its mounts and damage the bracket, leaving the shift lever showing the wrong gear and allowing the car to move unexpectedly. On 1992 models, the passenger-side airbag was assembled without igniter material, meaning it can fail to deploy or deploy too slowly in a crash, reducing protection for the front passenger. There are also two separate audio system concerns spanning both model years: 1992 sedans and coupes with a Bose system featuring rear-mounted speaker amplifiers have an amplifier transistor that can overheat and produce smoke or fire, while 1991 models with the same Bose setup have a capacitor on the amplifier circuit board that can leak electrolyte and cause a short circuit under high ambient temperatures, also creating a fire risk.
