The 1991 Acura Legend has 3 recalls, the most serious being a transmission shift issue where a minor frontal collision can damage the shift cable bracket, causing the gear selector to show the wrong position and leading to unexpected vehicle movement.
Even if the car looks undamaged after a low-speed front-end impact, the engine rocking on its mounts can bend or crack the bracket that connects the shift lever to the transmission, so the car may move in a direction the driver does not expect. There is also an electrical recall affecting vehicles equipped with the Bose audio system that has separate amplifiers mounted behind the rear seat: in high heat conditions, a capacitor on the amplifier circuit board can leak and cause a short circuit, raising the risk of a fire in the rear of the cabin.
