28 recalls across 12 model years
The Audi Q3 has 28 recalls spanning 2015 through 2026, with the most serious being a 2019 model year steering defect where a circlip can detach from the steering rack, catch on surrounding components, and lock the steering wheel while driving.
On the safety systems side, 2023-2024 models have a passenger seat sensor that can incorrectly read an occupied seat as empty and deactivate the front passenger airbag, leaving that occupant unprotected in a crash. The 2023 model year has a related but separate issue where the same airbag can switch off and trigger a warning light on the dash. The 2019 model year has an additional airbag concern: the passenger airbag may fail to tear through the instrument panel properly during deployment, and small plastic fragments can enter the cabin. On 2026 models, a software error allows the sunroof to be closed remotely from a distance where the operator cannot see it, raising the risk of trapping an occupant.
The 2022 model year carries several issues. A damaged vent pipe inside the fuel tank can cause gasoline to spill from the filler neck when the cap is removed, creating a fire risk. This same fuel tank vent pipe issue also affects 2021 models. The rear window on some 2022 vehicles can crack or break due to a manufacturing error, scattering glass. The rearview camera on 2022 models can fail to display an image when shifting into reverse; prior repair attempts did not fully resolve this for all affected vehicles, requiring a second fix. The infotainment screen on some 2022 vehicles can also go blank, eliminating the rearview camera display entirely.
The 2024-2025 model years have a rearview camera that can fail to appear at startup when reversing. The 2021 model year has a rear seatbelt retractor issue that can prevent a child restraint from being properly secured. The 2020 model year has two separate concerns: a brake pedal plate that can bend or detach under hard braking, reducing the surface area for the driver's foot, and a single-vehicle recall for a driver's seat frame that may not be correctly bolted to the seat rail and could fail in a crash.
Going back further, 2016-2018 models with LED headlights have a turn signal fault that does not alert the driver with a fast-flashing indicator when a front turn signal stops working. The 2016-2017 model years have a brake light issue: using the parking brake during emergency braking fails to activate the brake lights, giving no warning to traffic behind. The 2015-2017 model years have a side marker light problem where a software update can inadvertently disable those lights when the parking lights or headlights are on, reducing the vehicle's visibility at night. The 2015 model year has a sunroof that can continue closing after the ignition is switched off rather than stopping, and a compliance issue with side marker lights not illuminating when the parking lights are on and the vehicle is locked.
