3 recalls across 2 model years
The BMW 530i xDrive has 3 recalls covering the 2024-2025 model years, with the most serious being a steering spindle defect on 2024-2025 vehicles where the spindle can break and suddenly require much greater effort to steer, raising the risk of a crash.
The 2025 model year has a separate issue where the electrical connection between the starter-generator and the battery can work loose, causing the engine to stall while driving or the wiring to overheat and start a fire. On 2024 models, the electronic brake booster control module can fail, reducing power brake assist and extending stopping distances, while also interfering with the anti-lock brakes and stability control in ways that can cause loss of vehicle control.
