The 2024 BMW 530i xDrive has 3 recalls, the most serious being a steering spindle that can break mid-drive, making the wheel significantly harder to turn and raising the risk of a crash.
The remaining two recalls both affect braking systems. The electronic brake booster can lose its power assist, which means the driver has to press the brake pedal much harder to slow the car, and stopping distances stretch out as a result. On top of that, the anti-lock brakes and dynamic stability control can malfunction at the same time, reducing the car's ability to maintain control during hard braking or on slippery surfaces. These two recalls describe the same underlying brake and stability system failures across overlapping components and model ranges, but the real-world consequence is the same: reduced braking effectiveness and a potential loss of vehicle control when the driver needs those systems most.
