The BMW X6 has 51 recalls spanning 2008 through 2026, with the most serious recent issue affecting 2024–2025 models where the integrated brake system can malfunction, causing loss of power brake assist and disabling anti-lock brakes and stability control, significantly extending stopping distances and reducing vehicle control.
The 2026 model year has two recalls: improperly sealed windshields that allow water into electrical components, which can knock out headlights, and an incorrectly manufactured instrument panel that can prevent the passenger-side airbag from deploying in a crash. On 2025 models, a seatbelt warning system fault can fail to alert occupants of an unbuckled belt and cause the airbag system to deploy incorrectly.
