5 recalls across 3 model years
The BMW 745Le xDrive has 5 recalls covering the 2019–2021 model years, with the most serious affecting 2021 models where debris inside the hybrid battery cells can cause an internal short circuit and raise the risk of fire. The 2021 model year also has a brake system recall where the anti-lock brake system and hydraulic brake assist can both fail, leaving the driver with reduced stopping power. A separate issue on 2020–2021 models involves engine management software that can cut brake assist during engine start, again leaving full mechanical braking available but without the power assistance that shortens stopping distances.
On the camera side, 2020–2021 models have a software issue that can cause the rearview camera image to disappear or show a reduced field of view while backing up. Going back to 2019–2020 models, a hardware-related issue can cause the backup camera display to go blank entirely when reversing.
