4 recalls across 3 model years
The BMW R1200GS Adventure has 4 recalls covering the 2006-2008 model years, with the most serious being a 2007-specific defect where vibration can damage the front brake lines, allowing fluid to leak out and causing partial or complete loss of front braking ability. The 2008 model year has a separate brake-related issue where high electrical load combined with high generator speeds can send false signals to the anti-lock brake control unit, causing the ABS to shut off unexpectedly. On 2006 models, loose fuel tank mounting fasteners can allow the bolts to migrate inward and press against the fork leg when the handlebars are turned sharply, restricting steering travel and reducing the rider's ability to maneuver. Also on 2006 models with cross-spoke wheels and the optional tire pressure monitoring system, the valve stem hole in the wheel rim can be out of specification, preventing the valve from seating correctly and allowing a slow air leak from the tire.
