4 recalls across 5 model years
The BMW S1000 RR has 4 recalls spanning 2010 through 2020, the most serious being a 2020 model year issue where oil cooler hoses can detach from the oil pipes, drip oil onto the rear tire, and cause a loss of traction that can lead to a crash.
The 2020 model year also has a brake light recall where the light flashes rather than stays steady during hard emergency braking, which can confuse following drivers about the severity of the stop. On the fuel system side, 2011-2013 models have a fuel pump that can crack and leak fuel while the motorcycle is running, raising the risk of a fire if the fuel contacts an ignition source. Going back further, 2010-2011 models that received a prior repair under an earlier recall may still have a vulnerable fuel pump if it was not replaced at that time, leaving the same fire risk in place.
