4 recalls across 1 model year
The Buell S3 Thunderbolt has 4 recalls, all affecting the 1999 model year, with the most serious being a throttle cable that can slip out of its guide and prevent the throttle from returning to idle when the rider releases the grip, leaving the engine stuck at elevated speed and raising the risk of a crash.
The 1999 model also has a fuel filter that can leak, and any nearby ignition source can turn that leak into an engine fire. On the suspension side, some 1999 swingarms were built outside of dimensional specifications, which can cause the rear suspension to fail while riding. The rear brake line on these same bikes was routed in a position where it can be damaged over time, leading to brake fluid loss and reduced or absent rear braking.
