The Chevrolet Caprice Police Pursuit has 3 recalls, all affecting 2014-2016 model years and all centered on the same issue: a connector between the electric power steering module and the torque sensor can corrode or fail, causing the power steering assist to cut out and requiring significantly more physical effort to steer, particularly at low speeds. All three recalls address the same underlying steering defect, with subsequent campaigns targeting vehicles where earlier repair attempts did not fully resolve the problem. Whether a given vehicle received a prior steering gear replacement or not, the connector remains vulnerable to failure. The practical risk is the same across all three filings: a driver who loses power steering assist, especially while maneuvering at low speed, will find the steering wheel considerably harder to turn and may lose control of the vehicle.
