The 2014 Chevrolet Caprice Police Pursuit has 7 recalls, with the most serious concerns centered on electric power steering failure and front occupant restraint systems that may not deploy in a crash.
The electric power steering issue appears across multiple recalls because earlier repair attempts did not fully resolve the problem. A corroded connector between the power steering module and torque sensor can cause the system to lose assist, requiring significantly more physical effort to steer, particularly at low speeds. On the restraint side, the driver's seatbelt tensioner cable can fatigue and separate from repeated bending as the driver gets in and out of the vehicle, leaving the driver without proper restraint in a crash. There are also recalls covering the front airbags and seatbelt pretensioners more broadly: a fault in the control system can prevent both the airbags and pretensioners from firing when needed, reducing crash protection for the driver and front passenger.
