Summary
The Chevrolet Silverado HD has 5 recalls, with the most pressing affecting 2025 models where a software fault can prevent fuel from transferring between tanks while showing an incorrect fuel level, causing the engine to stall unexpectedly while driving.
The 2025 model year also stands alone with that fuel management issue. Looking back at 2015 production, four separate recalls cover fire risk and brake system failure. Two involve the fuel system on diesel-equipped trucks: on a narrow band of early-production 2015 diesels, a loose fuel tank vent hose clamp can allow the vent line to detach and leak fuel, and on 2015 diesel models with dual fuel tanks, improperly tightened fuel pipe connections at the transfer pump can also leak fuel, either of which can result in a fire if fuel contacts an ignition source. A third 2015 recall affects trucks equipped with a 220-amp generator, where a wiring or fuse circuit fault can create an electrical arc that ignites nearby materials in the engine compartment. The fourth 2015 recall covers the power steering hose clamp, which can disconnect from the pump or steering gear and drain power steering fluid, leaving the driver with heavy, slow-responding steering and reduced braking assistance at the same time.
