The 2015 Chevrolet Silverado HD has 4 recalls, all carrying fire or crash risk: two separate fuel system issues can leak diesel fuel near ignition sources, an electrical wiring fault in trucks with the 220-amp generator can arc and ignite nearby materials, and a brake and steering concern can leave the driver with little stopping or steering control.
The two fuel system recalls affect diesel models: one involves a loose hose clamp on the fuel tank vent line that can allow the line to detach and spill fuel, while the other affects trucks with dual fuel tanks where loose fuel pipe connections at the transfer pump can also allow fuel to escape. On the electrical side, certain trucks equipped with the 220-amp generator have a wiring fault that can cause arcing and start a fire in the engine compartment. The brake and steering recall covers a power steering hose clamp that can disconnect from the pump or gear, draining steering fluid and causing both power steering and power brake assist to fail at the same time, making the truck significantly harder to steer and stop.
