The 2013 Chevrolet Spark has 5 recalls, the most serious being a corroded secondary hood latch that can fail to engage, allowing the hood to fly open while driving and blocking the driver's view.
A separate safety equipment recall affects certain vehicles built in early 2013: an improperly welded passenger-side front airbag inflator can prevent the airbag from deploying in a crash, leaving the front passenger without that protection. On the electrical side, vehicles equipped with the Bring Your Own Media radio have two related issues: the radio can fail to sound an audible chime when the seatbelt goes unfastened, and it can also fail to chime when the key is left in the ignition after the vehicle is shut off and the driver waits before opening the door.
