DAEWOO LANOS Recalls

The Daewoo Lanos has 5 recalls covering the 1999-2000 model years, with the most serious being a camshaft position sensor on 1999 models that can melt, spread heat to the surrounding wiring harness and camshaft cover, and start an engine compartment fire. A second 1999-only recall carries equal urgency: wheel bolts that were not torqued to spec can work loose and allow a wheel to separate from the vehicle without warning. Also on 1999 models, the side door impact beams have a mispositioned pad that can reduce the door's ability to protect occupants in a side collision. There is also a 1999 passenger-side airbag cover that can cause increased head injury to the front occupant in crashes where the airbags do not deploy, due to contact with the cover. On 2000 models, the engine control module wiring harness in the passenger footwell can chafe against a body seam as a passenger moves their feet, short to ground, and cause rough running or a sudden engine stall.
