2002 Dodge Caravan

The 2002 Dodge Caravan has 4 recalls, the most serious being two separate fire risks: a power steering cooler hose that can split and spray fluid onto hot engine components, and a radio that can short-circuit and ignite the rear speakers.

On V-6 equipped models, the upper power steering cooler hose can crack and leak fluid into the engine bay, where it can ignite if it contacts an ignition source. The radio issue is unrelated to the drivetrain: condensation dripping from the air conditioning ducts can fall through vent holes in the top of the radio unit, causing a short circuit that sends excess current to the rear speakers and can start a fire inside the cabin. There is also a compliance recall involving child restraint anchor points: the owner's manual does not identify which seating positions include tether anchors and lower child seat anchors, which means a caregiver may not be able to confirm a car seat is properly secured, raising the risk of injury to a child in a crash.
