The 2005 Dodge Dakota has 6 recalls, the most serious being Takata-style airbag inflators on both the driver and passenger sides that can rupture in a crash and send metal fragments into the cabin.
The side curtain airbags carry their own concern: on trucks equipped with the optional side curtain airbags, the mounting fasteners may not have been properly tightened, which can cause the curtain to deploy incorrectly in a side collision and raise the risk of injury to occupants. On trucks with heated seats, two recalls address the same underlying problem: the seat cushions and seat backs can develop hot spots that burn through the material, posing a burn risk to the occupant and a potential fire risk in the cabin.
