The 2007 Dodge Durango has 4 recalls, the most serious being two separate safety issues that can each cause a crash without warning: a steering knuckle that can fracture and cause sudden loss of steering control, and airbag inflators on both the driver and passenger sides that can rupture and send metal fragments into the cabin.
The steering knuckle defect affects the right front corner of the suspension, where the part can break while driving, leaving the driver unable to steer. On the airbag side, both the driver and passenger frontal airbag inflators are affected: in a crash where the airbags deploy, the inflator housing can burst and scatter metal fragments toward the driver and other occupants, raising the risk of serious injury beyond what the crash itself causes.
