The 2000 Dodge Neon has 4 recalls, the most serious being two safety-critical issues: a throttle that can stick open in extreme cold and a front suspension lower control arm that can separate from its pivot, both of which can cause sudden loss of vehicle control.
On the safety equipment side, the passenger-side front airbag may not inflate properly in a crash, leaving the passenger without adequate protection. There is also a brake concern: the brake booster vacuum hose can swell and pull loose from the intake manifold when exposed to oil and heat, reducing braking power and causing the engine to rev unexpectedly at idle.
