The 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 has 3 recalls, the most serious involving both the driver and passenger frontal airbag inflators, which can rupture and send metal fragments into the cabin during a crash.
The airbag inflator concern covers both sides of the front seat: if either airbag deploys, the inflator housing can burst and scatter metal fragments toward the driver or passengers, turning a safety system into a source of serious injury. There is also a steering concern: the left tie rod, which connects the steering column to the front wheel, can break while driving. If that happens, the driver loses the ability to steer the vehicle, which can lead to a crash with little or no warning.
