3 recalls across 1 model year
The Ducati 1098 has 3 recalls, all affecting the 2007 model year, with the most serious being a rear drive sprocket that can fail while riding, allowing the chain to tangle in the rear wheel and cause a sudden loss of control.
The 2007 model year also has a coolant hose between the horizontal cylinder head and the thermostat that can develop a leak, spraying hot coolant onto the rider's leg and causing scalding burns. If that coolant reaches the rear tire, it can reduce traction sharply enough to cause a crash. There is also an engine control unit calibration issue on the same year where the ignition timing and idle mixture settings can cause the engine to stall when coolant temperature climbs above 82°C (180°F), leaving the rider without power mid-ride.
