3 recalls across 1 model year
The Ducati 1098 has 3 recalls, all affecting 2007 model year motorcycles, with the most serious being a rear drive sprocket that can fail while riding, allowing the chain to tangle in the rear wheel and cause an immediate loss of control.
The 2007 model also has an engine control unit with ignition timing and idle mixture set incorrectly at the factory, which can cause the engine to stall when the cooling system reaches normal operating temperature. An unexpected stall while riding removes power and braking assist, raising the risk of a crash. There is also a coolant hose connecting the horizontal cylinder head to the thermostat that can develop a leak, spraying hot coolant onto the rider's leg and causing burns, or coating the rear tire and causing a sudden loss of traction.
