6 recalls across 8 model years
The Ducati Monster 1200 has 6 recalls spanning the 2014–2021 model years, with the most serious being rear brake hose heat damage on 2014–2021 models where the hose can fail and cause a sudden, complete loss of rear braking.
The front brakes are also covered by a recall: on 2015–2018 models, the front brake master cylinder can fail and eliminate front braking ability entirely. There is also a separate rear brake concern on 2017–2020 models where air can permeate the rear brake system, reducing braking effectiveness and extending stopping distances without the abrupt total failure seen in the hose issue.
On the drivetrain side, 2017–2019 models have a shift lever that may have been incorrectly assembled, allowing the shift knob to detach from the lever and leave the rider unable to change gears.
The 2014 model year has two additional issues. The rear brake hose on those early examples can also be damaged by heat and fail, resulting in sudden loss of rear braking. Separately, 2014 models fitted with an aftermarket clip-on handlebar adapter plate are subject to a recall where the adapter plate riser can crack and break, potentially causing loss of handlebar control.
