8 recalls across 8 model years
The Ducati Multistrada 1200 has 8 recalls spanning the 2010–2017 model years, with the most serious being a rear shock absorber eyelet that can crack and detach from the swingarm on 2016–2017 Enduro models, causing the rear suspension to collapse and making the motorcycle extremely difficult or impossible to control.
The throttle cable is a recurring concern across a wide range of production years. On 2010–2014 models, the inner sleeve of the throttle opening cable can shift out of position and prevent the throttle from closing fully, leaving the rider unable to reduce engine power on demand. This issue was addressed in multiple filings covering overlapping year ranges, but the underlying problem is the same across all affected bikes.
The 2010 model year carries several additional concerns. The electronic steering lock can fail to disengage even after the engine starts, leaving the handlebars locked while the rider attempts to move, which can cause a tip-over or crash at low speed. Separately, the engine can stall while downshifting or maneuvering with the clutch disengaged at idle, cutting propulsion unexpectedly in traffic.
On 2015–2016 models, the side-stand support tube can break at its weld joint, causing the motorcycle to fall over when parked. This affects both the standard 1200 and 1200 S trims from that production window.
