Summary
The Ducati Scrambler has 5 recalls spanning 2015 through 2021, with the most serious affecting 2018-2021 Scrambler 1100 models where the exhaust valve cable can contact the main positive battery wire, create a short circuit, and start a fire.
The 2021 Scrambler 800 Night Shift has a separate concern: front and rear turn signals may not flash brightly enough to be visible to other drivers, raising the risk of a collision when signaling. On the structural side, 2015-2016 models have a side stand pivot nut that can detach, causing the side stand position sensor to stop working correctly. When that happens, the engine can stall while riding or the motorcycle can be operated with the side stand still deployed, both of which raise the risk of a crash. The 2015 model year alone has a related issue where the side stand pivot bolt threads may be too short to properly engage the locking nut, allowing the pivot to loosen, which can either prevent the motorcycle from starting or stall the engine while in motion.
