FORD CL SERIES Recalls

The Ford CL Series has 3 recalls spanning 1981 through 1989, with the most serious being a steering shaft yoke defect on 1981 models where brittle welds can fracture and cause complete loss of steering control. The 1989 model year has a recall involving spring parking brake chambers where cracks can develop in the mounting surface, potentially fracturing the chamber housing and allowing the entire brake chamber to separate from the vehicle, removing rear parking brake function. On 1988 models equipped with Cummins engines, oil cooler gaskets can rupture and spray engine oil onto hot exhaust components, creating a fire risk in the engine compartment.
