3 recalls across 2 model years
The Ford Custom 500 has 3 recalls covering the 1977 and 1979 model years, with the most serious affecting 1977 police vehicles equipped with the 460 cubic inch Interceptor package, where the left exhaust pipe can damage a nearby fuel hose and create a fire hazard.
On 1979 models, the front brake hoses can rub against the edges of frame-mounted bump brackets, wearing through the hose, leaking brake fluid, and reducing front braking performance. The brake warning light would activate when this occurs. There is also a compliance issue on 1979 models where the fuel filler decal appears only in English, which does not meet Canadian bilingual labeling requirements.
