The Ford E Series Cutaway Chassis Cab has 1 recall affecting the 2003 model year, where a diode inside the anti-lock brake module can short electrically, either disabling the anti-lock brakes or causing the module to overheat and produce smoke or start a fire.

When the short causes an ABS malfunction, the warning light on the dash activates and the anti-lock braking system stops functioning, leaving the wheels vulnerable to locking up under hard braking. In the more severe outcome, the overheating module can ignite nearby materials, with the fire risk present regardless of whether the vehicle is in motion.
