FORD F59 COMMERCIAL CHASSIS Recalls

The Ford F59 Commercial Chassis has 4 recalls spanning 2012 through 2024, with the most serious being a fuel tank corrosion issue on 2021 models where paint peeling from the tank seam allows rust to develop and fuel to leak, creating a fire risk. The 2020 model year has a rear axle that left the factory without a full oil fill, which can cause the axle bearings to seize over time. If the bearings fail, the axle or driveshaft can break and cut power to the rear wheels, raising the risk of a crash or an uncontrolled rollaway on a parked vehicle. On 2024 models equipped with a high-series instrument panel cluster, a software fault can cause the gear position display to show incorrect or missing information, leaving the driver uncertain which gear is actually selected. Going back to 2012, an electrical junction block in the right front wheel well area can corrode when exposed to road salt, causing an electrical short that can produce smoke and raise the risk of fire.
