11 recalls across 12 model years
The Ford GT has 11 recalls covering the 2005–2018 production run, with the most serious recent issue being a rear wing hydraulic system that can leak fluid onto the hot exhaust on 2017–2018 models, creating a fire risk.
On 2017–2018 models, the rear wing valve block can leak hydraulic fluid onto the exhaust system. Prior repair attempts on some 2017 vehicles did not fully resolve the issue, requiring a second round of repairs. The fire risk applies whether the vehicle is being driven or is simply hot from recent use.
The 2005–2006 model years carry multiple airbag inflator recalls tied to Takata components. Both the driver and passenger frontal airbag inflators can rupture during deployment, sending metal fragments into the cabin and raising the risk of serious injury or death. Vehicles originally sold or registered in high-humidity regions, including Florida, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and several Gulf Coast states, face elevated risk because moisture accelerates inflator degradation over time. These inflator concerns apply to both the driver and passenger sides on 2005–2006 examples.
The 2005 model year has an additional structural concern: front suspension control arms with casting imperfections that can fracture under load, affecting steering and handling in ways that can lead to a crash.
