FORD L8000 Recalls

The Ford L8000 has 3 recalls covering 1990 and 1993 model years, with the most serious being a brake air check valve defect on 1990 models where the valve can fail to seat properly, allowing air pressure to equalize between the primary and secondary service reservoirs and causing partial or total loss of braking ability. The 1993 model year has a separate wheel assembly issue where incorrectly sized clamps attach the rim and tire assembly to the wheel spokes, causing the mounting studs to bend under load. Bent studs compromise the connection between the tire assembly and the wheel, which can allow the rim to work loose while driving. The 1990 model year also has a compliance recall related to tire and rim selection that does not carry a specific injury risk description.
