The Ford Mustang II has 2 recalls covering 1976 and 1978 model years, with the most serious being a cracked or sheared steering gear pin on certain 1976 power-steering-equipped vehicles that can cause a loss of steering control. The 1978 model year, on vehicles fitted with the 2.8-litre engine, has an accelerator cable assembly where the dust tube was improperly crimped, which can cause the throttle to stick partially open or return slowly when the driver lifts off the pedal.
