4 recalls across 4 model years
The Ford Truck has 4 recalls spanning 1980 to 1994, with the most serious affecting 1980 models equipped with Detroit Diesel Allison 8.2-litre engines, where excess fuel or oil can overflow into the intake system and cause the engine to accelerate without any throttle input from the driver.
The 1994 model year, in medium and heavy duty configurations with air brake systems, has a separate concern: under high air-demand conditions in cold weather, the air dryer cannot remove moisture fast enough, and the resulting ice can block downstream air lines and cause pressure to build up in the dryer, compromising brake system function. The two remaining recalls both involve missing or incorrect engine information labels rather than mechanical defects. On 1991 models fitted with 6.6-litre or 7.8-litre New Holland diesel engines, the English engine information label on the rocker cover may be wrong or absent. On 1990 models with the same engine family, the French-language version of that label may carry incorrect fuel rate and injection timing figures.
