The Genesis G80 Electrified has 1 recall affecting 2023 model year vehicles, where the front seatbelt pretensioners can explode during a crash and send metal fragments into the cabin, striking occupants. When a pretensioner fires in a collision, it is designed to tighten the belt across the occupant. On affected 2023 vehicles, the pretensioner can instead rupture, turning its housing into a source of metal debris inside the passenger compartment at the moment occupants need the restraint system most.
