7 recalls across 4 model years
The GMC HUMMER EV Pickup has 7 recalls spanning 2022 through 2026, with the most serious being high-voltage battery pack sealing failures on 2022-2023 models where water can enter the pack and cut drive power without warning.
The 2022 model year also has a separate battery issue where internal connections can be out of position or incorrectly welded, again causing sudden loss of drive power. On 2024 models, rear electric motor wiring can short against itself and drop drive power as well. In all three cases, losing propulsion unexpectedly raises crash risk, particularly at highway speeds or in traffic.
On the occupant protection side, 2026 models have a front passenger airbag wiring crimp that can prevent the airbag from deploying in a crash. The 2023 model year has front seat belt buckle attachment bolts that may not be fully tightened, which can allow the buckle to give way and fail to restrain the occupant in a crash.
Going back to 2022, taillight software can cause one or both rear lights to go dark or stay on incorrectly, making the vehicle harder for following drivers to read. The 2026 model year is also part of a broad GM documentation recall where the owner's manual may be missing or incomplete, leaving owners without reference material for safe vehicle operation.
