The Honda CRF250L has 5 recalls covering the 2014–2020 model years, with the most serious affecting 2018 models where a circlip on the transmission's main shaft can detach, causing the gear to misalign and either shift the bike unexpectedly into gear at startup or lock the transmission and rear wheel while riding.
The 2018 model year also has a wiring harness recall: the harness can be damaged during assembly, knocking out exterior lights, the horn, turn signals, and the instrument panel, reducing how visible the motorcycle is to other traffic. The 2020 model year has a separate lighting issue where the rear reflector does not reflect brightly enough, again reducing the bike's visibility to drivers behind it.
Going back to 2014–2015 production, improperly applied sealant on the starter relay switch can cause a loss of electrical power and an engine stall while riding. On 2014–2015 models only, that stall can happen without warning in traffic.
