2018 Honda Crf250l

The 2018 Honda CRF250L has 3 recalls, the most serious involving a transmission circlip that can detach and cause the bike to lurch forward unexpectedly at startup, or lock the rear wheel while riding.

When the circlip on the transmission's main shaft comes loose, gears can fall out of alignment. That misalignment can cause the transmission to slip from neutral into gear the moment the engine fires, throwing the motorcycle forward without warning. In a worst-case scenario, the same gear misalignment can seize the transmission and rear wheel while the bike is in motion, causing an abrupt loss of control. The remaining two recalls both involve the wiring harness and describe the same underlying problem: the harness may have been routed or installed incorrectly during assembly, leaving it vulnerable to damage that can knock out the headlight, taillights, turn signals, horn, and instrument panel readouts all at once. Losing those lights makes the motorcycle harder for other drivers to see, and losing the horn and instrument panel removes both a warning tool and basic ride information.
