Honda S2000 Recalls

The Honda S2000 has 7 recalls spanning the 2000–2007 production run, with the most serious being a brake booster defect on 2006–2007 models where the unit can lose vacuum when the pedal is pressed, reducing braking assistance and requiring greater pedal force to stop the vehicle.

The 2000 model year carries the remaining recalls, all tied to seat belts and lighting. Three separate filings address seatbelt retractor problems on these early cars: the retractor actuator can deform and either lock up completely or lock intermittently, making the belt impossible to pull out and leaving the occupant unrestrained in a crash. A related issue on 2000 models affects the top-down configuration specifically: when the convertible top is stowed and the seat is pushed fully rearward, the belt can fail to retract cleanly due to interference with the convertible top cover, leaving excess slack in the belt that reduces its ability to restrain an occupant in a collision. Rounding out the 2000 model year, the side marker lamp lens and side reflex reflector in the tail lamp assembly were made with incorrect dye that can fade or degrade over time, reducing rear visibility to other drivers.
