3 recalls across 3 model years
The Hyundai Santa Fe XL has 3 recalls spanning the 2013–2019 model years, with the most serious being an anti-lock brake module defect on 2019 models where an electrical short can start an engine compartment fire while parked or driving.
The 2017 model year has a separate engine recall in which crankshaft pin surface irregularities on 3.3-litre engines can cause premature wear to the crankshaft and engine bearings, leading to accelerated internal engine damage. Going back to the earliest production, 2013 models fitted with a Hyundai Genuine Accessory trailer wiring harness kit can allow moisture into the wiring control module over time, causing a short circuit that creates a fire risk even when the vehicle is parked and off.
