5 recalls across 3 model years
The INFINITI EX35 has 5 recalls covering the 2008-2010 model years, with the most serious being a steering column defect on 2008 models equipped with the power tilt/telescope steering option where the column can develop excessive play or lose steering function entirely.
A separate steering concern also affects 2008 models: the upper bearing retainer in the steering column can fail, adding unwanted movement to the steering wheel and making the vehicle unstable. Also on 2008 models, a low-battery condition caused by leaving the ignition on without the engine running can cause the airbag control unit to suppress the front passenger airbag and illuminate the warning light, potentially leaving that seat unprotected in a crash. The 2008 model year also has a daytime running lamp bulb that can burn out earlier than expected, reducing the vehicle's visibility to other drivers and pedestrians in daylight.
For 2010 models, a CURT aftermarket receiver hitch (part number 11500) sold for use on these vehicles can pull the bumper structure away from the frame when loaded to its maximum rating, which can allow a towed vehicle to separate while in motion.
